A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is one of the most important documents you can put in place. It allows you to appoint someone you trust — known as your attorney — to make decisions on your behalf if you are ever unable to do so yourself.
There are two types of LPA:
Property and financial affairs
This covers decisions about your bank accounts, property, bills and investments. Your attorney can act on your behalf either while you still have mental capacity (with your permission) or if you lose it.
Health and welfare
This covers decisions about your daily care, medical treatment and where you live. It can only be used if you lack the mental capacity to make those decisions yourself.
We guide you through the entire process in plain English, from choosing the right attorneys to registering your LPA with the Office of the Public Guardian. We are here to make sure your wishes are properly recorded and legally protected.
